Abandoned at a remote campsite after an argument with her boyfriend, Alma finds herself alone and lost in the rural South. Alma's focus on returning to civilization is suddenly interrupted by a human corpse, found floating against an old buoy on the lake. When she reports her discovery to a curiously callous local authority, she is made to confront not only the prejudices of an isolated, insular community, but also her own status as an outsider. Ultimately, Alma is forced to weigh her powerful sense of moral rightness against her increasingly overwhelming desire to escape.
